A recent study in the US suggests that incorporating full-fat yoghurt into your diet might improve blood sugar control, especially if you're at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
In this controlled trial, participants aged 45 to 75, with slightly elevated fasting blood glucose levels (just into the pre-diabetic range), were divided into two groups. For three weeks, one group consumed three servings of fat-free yoghurt daily, while the other group had three servings of full-fat yoghurt.
The results were intriguing. After the fat-free yoghurt phase, there was no significant change in fasting blood glucose levels. However, during the full-fat yoghurt phase, participants experienced a notable decrease, bringing their levels back to the normal range.
